Photos from the 2016 NSRA Street Rod Nationals South
Spring time in Tennessee is a good time to own a street rod. We have our big cruise in April, and then when May rolls around, it's always time for the NSRA Street Rod Nationals South in Knoxville, Tennessee. We make it up to Knoxville to check out the event every year, and bring you some coverage because it's a nearby event with tons of cool stuff on the grounds of Chilhowee Park. This year, the weather was excellent, which always brings out a great crowd. We spotted a bunch of cars at the Street Rod Nationals South with Coker Tire products rolling beneath them, so check out some of our favorites and support your local NSRA event! [products] [caption id="attachment_7493" align="alignleft" width="780"]Street Rod Nationals South It's not often that we see a 1954 Ford restored to perfection, and this one is a beautiful example, rolling on a set of our BFGoodrich Silvertown bias ply whitewall tires.[/caption] [caption id="attachment_7494" align="alignleft" width="780"]Street Rod Nationals South We absolutely love the mild custom look of this Post-War Ford coupe. The wide whites and Lancer hubcaps with just a tiny bit of the red steelies exposed...now that's a cool look! Lake pipes, spot lights and lots of pinstriping complete the '50s custom appearance package.[/caption] [caption id="attachment_7497" align="alignleft" width="780"]Street Rod Nationals South We rolled into the fairgrounds early and spotted this awesome Chevy COE ramp truck with a very cool hot rod on its back. These early birds claimed a good spot, and later got the four-cylinder hot rod out for a cruise around the park. This 1956 Ford Thunderbird is sporting a set of our Firestone 6.70-15 whitewall tires. [/caption] [caption id="attachment_7504" align="alignleft" width="780"]Street Rod Nationals South Let's fast forward to the '60s and the height of the muscle car era. This 1967 Pontiac GTO convertible is a rare beast, and it's rolling on a set of Pontiac Rallye I wheels, wrapped in our Coker Classic redline radial tires. A perfect fit for an iconic muscle car. [/caption] [caption id="attachment_7506" align="alignleft" width="780"]Street Rod Nationals South You won't find a more emblematic 1950's classic than a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air. This turquoise convertible is making the rounds at the Street Rod Nationals South, and rolls on a set of our Coker Classic wide whitewall radial tires. [/caption] [caption id="attachment_7499" align="alignleft" width="780"]Street Rod Nationals South Another rolling masterpiece, this Model T sedan is a '60s style hot rod with wild paint, a supercharged small block Chevy engine and of course, wide whitewalls! We like the old school look![/caption] [caption id="attachment_7502" align="alignleft" width="780"]Street Rod Nationals South This 1939 Mercury convertible is super stylish and it's for sale! This ragtop features a Flathead V8 with dual carbs and A/C, and we like the Firestone wide whites and fender skirts. Good stuff![/caption] [caption id="attachment_7501" align="alignleft" width="780"]Street Rod Nationals South With subtle colors and a hot rod stance, this little pickup has just the right amount of traditional flavor. Check out those Smoothie wheels and Coker Classic bias ply whitewalls![/caption] [caption id="attachment_7496" align="alignleft" width="780"]Street Rod Nationals South And now for a not-so-subtle hot rod. This heavily chopped and channeled Model A sedan got lots of attention and of course, it's sporting a set of our tires...Firestone motorcycle tires up front and BIG BFG bias ply tires out back. [/caption] [caption id="attachment_7505" align="alignleft" width="780"]Street Rod Nationals South The Ford Mustang is an American classic, and it's hard to get much cooler than a 1969 Mach 1. This one is beautifully restored, and features a set of our Magnum 500 wheels and BFGoodrich Radial T/A white letter tires. [/caption] [caption id="attachment_7495" align="alignleft" width="780"]Street Rod Nationals South Another Ford spotted on the grounds, and another Ford rolling on our wide whitewall radials![/caption] [caption id="attachment_7503" align="alignleft" width="780"]Street Rod Nationals South The tall and skinny Coker Classic bias profile radials on this '32 Ford coupe look right at home. The fenderless coupe is powered by a small block Chevy.[/caption] [caption id="attachment_7507" align="alignleft" width="780"]Street Rod Nationals South How's this for a comparison? Flat black, heavily chopped, no fenders, black steelies, and Firestone blackwall tires....[/caption] [caption id="attachment_7509" align="alignleft" width="780"]Street Rod Nationals South Now for the same type of Model A with a factory roof line, full fenders, red steelies and BFGoodrich wide whitewall radials. [/caption] [caption id="attachment_7511" align="alignleft" width="780"]Street Rod Nationals South We'll leave you with a parting shot of a super cool roadster pickup that is Flathead powered and rolling on our Firestone Dirt Track tires. That's all from Knoxville! Be sure to check out our Goodguys Nashville next week![/caption]
