A few weeks ago, we discussed the idea for a cruise in right here in Corkyville. Deciding on a date was a daunting task with so many events going on this time of year, but we knew it needed to be on Chestnut Street, and we knew an event of this nature would bring in a crowd no matter the date. So, our decision was to hold the Cruise In on the Saturday of the Coker Tire Challenge, which happened to be September 17th. We knew going in that this date would be somewhat of an issue, because it's the weekend of the Grand Run in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, but we had an awesome turnout, all things considered! We called the guys at Mountain Cove to come in a play a few sets of Bluegrass music for us, and we also had the East Ridge High School engine building team on hand, performing lightning fast engine rebuilds in the parking lot. Part of the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge, the team is a well-known group of high schoolers who are headed to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas at the end of October. They needed the practice and we wanted to have them perform for us, so it was a perfect fit! The Southside Saloon and Bistro, as well as T-Bones Cafe offered good food and cold "refreshments", while Southern Burger Company set up on 14th Street to sell big, juicy burgers! We opened the doors to Coker Tire, Honest Charley Speed Shop as well as Honest Charley Garage, so cruise in participants could see what we're all about. We want to thank all of the Coker employees who made this event possible, as well as the band, engine building team and our local NAPA for setting up. By scheduling the event during the Coker Tire Challenge we were able to utilize those 40+ vehicles in a special parking area, which gave the cruise in participants a great look at the rally machines. Overall, we had close to 300 vehicles in attendance, including the Challenge participants, so we consider it a huge success. It was an awesome time, and we can't wait to have another one...stay tuned for dates so you can make plans to join us!!! [gallery link="file"]
