Museums Galore -- Day 6 of the 2017 Great Race
We're still truckin' right along on the 2017 Hemmings Motor News Great Race presented by Hagerty! As we embarked on day 6 of this epic adventure, we knew it would be action packed and rather busy...but the good kind of busy! We stopped in three towns, all of which featuring awesome museums! First was a pit stop in Shipshewana, Indiana, and the Hostetler's Hudson Auto Museum. Usually, these pit stops are highly advertised, but we ended up with hundreds of spectators checking out our cars while we looked at the impressive collection of Hudsons. We also grabbed a quick snack, provided by the museum. Then, it was onto lunch at the incredible Gilmore Auto Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan! This place was packed with spectators, some of which drove their old cars to offer us the warmest of welcomes! Finally, we made the final push to Ypsilanti, Michigan, where a HUGE crowd would greet us. Ypsilanti is the home of the last remaining Hudson dealership, which has been transformed into a museum, full of interesting automotive artifacts. One thing is for sure with all these museums--there are a LOT of Coker Tire products in use! They want the authentic look, brand and construction on these priceless cars and trucks, so Coker is the first choice! Team Coker Tire scored a 19.40 second day, which was not what they wanted, but it was a solid finish, considering the difficulty of today's route. Tomorrow is a new day, as we head to the Stahls Automotive Museum in Chesterfield, Michigan and then to downtown Frankenmuth for a great overnight stop.
