Raised White Letter

This is a raised white letter tire, sometimes called RWL for short. Raised white letter tires became common in the late 1960's on muscle cars like the Pontiac GTO and high performance pony cars, like the Ford Mustang. Raised white letter tires feature white rubber that is built into the tire's sidewall when the carcass is being assembled. The letters are formed when the tire is vulcanized in a curing mold, and then buffed clean to reveal bright white letters. Popular raised white letter tires include BFGoodrich Radial T/A, Firestone Wide Oval and Goodyear Polyglas tires.

Please note that dimensions listed (tread width, section width and overall diameter) are non-scientific and based on an inflated tire, mounted to a wheel. Question:
numbers on tire are P225 70SR14 what is the difference between the P225/70R14
By Charles Cooper on April 15, 2019
Answer:

Good question, The letter "S" means that the tires are speed rated to 112mph. This is optional to list in the tire size itself. Our BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires also have this speed rating. So, to answer your question, they are the same tire.
