Firestone | Super Sports | Redline | 775-15

Firestone Super Sports 775-15 Redline bias ply tires were an original option on 1967 Corvette but they look awesome on classic Corvettes, or other cars from the muscle car era. These Firestone Bias Ply 775-15 tires are an excellent choice for muscle cars and full size sedans that use 15x6 inch wheels. The Super Sports model was the predecessor to the Firestone Wide Oval tire. They feature authentic sidewall markings and original Firestone tread pattern design. These tires are hand-built in the USA in the original molds using modern materials. Firestone offers the best selling line of classic tires in the world, with hundreds of OE fitments and styles available.

Genuine Redline Tire

This product features a genuine redline sidewall style, sometimes known as a red stripe, due to the thin 3/8-inch strip rubber. This means that the red rubber is added directly to the tire sidewall during initial construction of the carcass, resulting in a truly integrated, high-quality product after vulcanization. Redline tires hit the American automobile market in 1964 with the introduction of the Pontiac GTO and remained a popular muscle car tire until around 1970. Dual redline tires (two red stripes) were an option on Ford Mustangs, and are now reproduced in original bias ply construction as well as radial construction.

Bias Ply Construction

Bias ply tire construction is a method that was used from the 1900's through the 1970's on passenger cars and light trucks. Bias ply tires feature ply cords that run at a 45 degree angle to the bead, and overlap in a crisscross pattern, depending on how many ply layers are used. This creates a strong tire, but bias ply tires have a tendency to follow breaks or ruts in the pavement. Bias ply tires are the most authentic choice for classic car restorations and traditional hot rod builds. Coker Tire offers a huge variety of bias ply tires for many applications.

  • Tire mounted on wheel for demonstration purposes only. Wheel and other accessories are not included. Please note that dimensions listed (tread width, section width and overall diameter) are non-scientific and based on an inflated tire, mounted to a wheel. Dimensions may vary due to rim width and inflation pressure. Please note Chemical Guys Tire and Rubber Cleaner and Adams Polish Tire shine has been linked to Whitewall browning and should not be used. We recommend using our line of tire care products.

what is the speed rating of this tire, thanks
By Your Name (optional) on September 23, 2018
Answer:

Bias ply tires intended for antique autos are not speed rating tested like conventional tires are. These tires should be expected to perform at the original capabilities of the vehicles they were engineered for.
