The art of building a period correct modified muscle car has become a popular trend in the restoration hobby in the past few years. Known as a “Day Two” restoration, it involves building a car that would’ve the way a gear head would’ve done it in the 1960’s or 1970’s. Dating back to the 1970's Pro-Trac has been a popular brand for modified muscle cars and hot rods. Think back to the days of jacked-up rear ends, velocity stacks poking through the hood and big headers hanging below the frame rails...that type of car is the perfect applicaiton for Pro-Trac tires. The tires went off the market for a while, but Coker Tire brought them back several years ago to meet the needs of muscle car and hot rod enthusiasts around the world.
Pro-Trac tires feature an authentic bias ply construction, as Coker Tire used original molds during the development process. The molds were refurbished to modern standards, and thoroughly tested before introducing the tires to the market.
The tires features a four-ply polyester/fiberglass cord construction, and retain the authentic tread patterns with added sipes for improved handling on wet roads. A special street/strip compound is used to increase traction, while also providing long tread life. Pro-Trac Performance tires are proudly made in the USA, and they are DOT approved.
When Coker Tire brought back the Pro-Trac brand, it brought back the most popular sizes, which include two front-runner sizes, two 60-series sizes, the always-popular N50-15 tires and three massive sizes for Pro Street builds.
With a total of eight sizes, the Pro-Trac line offers plenty of choices for an old school build. Sizing choices are 560-15, 215/75-15, 235/60-15, 275/60-15, N50-15, 375/60-15, 445/50-15 and 515/45-15. Several of the sizes will fit within stock wheel wells, but the N50 and larger sizes require the vehicle to either be tubbed, or jacked up high enough for the rear tires to protrude from the wheel openings.
