so are these 235 75 15?

Answer:

The L78-15 is a bis ply tire, but is equivalent to, and interchangeable with the 235/75R15. Bias ply tires are not recommended for vehicles manufactured after 1976, however.

Will this tire fit a 1956 ford fairlane 500 that has 205 R 15 on there now?

Answer:

No, this tire is much larger. The OE size is 670-15 bias, with 710-15 being optional, and the 205/75R15 size is recommended radial equivalent.
