Goodyear Custom Super Cushion 2.25 inch Whitewall |  800-14

The Goodyear Custom Super Cushion 800-14 bias ply tire is a great choice for a classic car from the 1950's, thanks to its 2 1/4 inch whitewall (2.25 inches). This tire was introduced in 1957, when most of the American auto manufacturers stepped down from 15 inch wheels to 14 inch wheels. The 800-14 size became standard on classics such as the famous Ford Thunderbird, as well as other makes like Edsel, Mercury, Chevrolet and Dodge and many more popular '50s classic cars. It features a four-ply bias ply construction with polyester cord material, and has an authentic tread pattern and sidewall markings for the 1957 through 1961 era.

Genuine Wide Whitewall Tire

This product features a genuine wide whitewall sidewall style. This means that the bright white rubber is added directly to the tire sidewall during initial construction of the carcass, resulting in a truly integrated, high-quality product after vulcanization. Wide whitewall tires were a very popular choice from the 1930's through the end of the 1950's, and were eventually phased out of mainstream production by 1962. Originally, wide whitewall tires featured a bias ply construction, but now Coker Tire offers them in original style bias ply and modern radial construction.

Bias Ply Construction

Bias ply tire construction is a method that was used from the 1900's through the 1970's on passenger cars and light trucks. Bias ply tires feature ply cords that run at a 45 degree angle to the bead, and overlap in a crisscross pattern, depending on how many ply layers are used. This creates a strong tire, but bias ply tires have a tendency to follow breaks or ruts in the pavement. Bias ply tires are the most authentic choice for classic car restorations and traditional hot rod builds. Coker Tire offers a huge variety of bias ply tires for many applications.
