High Mileage Tires
As you know, we love old cars. And we love tires for old cars, but we also have a Service Center for modern vehicles here at our Chattanooga, Tennessee location. We have a great network of regular customers, including Carl Hoffman, who became a customer several years ago. He later moved to Canton, Georgia, but he still makes the trip up here to the Scenic City to have his truck serviced. He is very particular about his truck, which is a 2000 Toyota Tacoma with 396,000 miles and counting! [caption id="attachment_2432" align="alignleft" width="500" caption="How many miles do you think are on these tires???"][/caption] Just having a vehicle with that many miles is a big deal, but get this...the current tires on the truck have more than 190,000 miles on them. We've never seen anything like it, and his tire longevity is due to his routine tire rotations and balancing every 3,000 miles. Here's a bit of background on his very dependable and long-lasting Toyota pickup. Carl bought it in 2000 and proceeded to wear out the original Goodyear Wranglers in about 50,000 miles, which is about average. He then came to Coker Tire and Auto Service for new tires, and bought a set of Michelin LTX radials. These tires lasted an astonishing 156,000 miles, so he bought another set of them about 6 years ago. The tires on his 4x4 Toyota are Michelin LTX 31x10.50-15's and they're getting close to the 200,000 mile mark! Regular balancing and rotation has prolonged the life of these tires to an amazing degree. Carl came into the shop today for one of his regular balance and rotation, and he couldn't be happier with the life of his tires. He still has a bit of life left in the tires, and he says that during his entire time with this truck, he has never experienced a blowout. The original spare is still unused under the truck! Just thought we'd pass it along and show that with the proper alignment and maintenance, tires can go a LONG way!
