These Firestone Wide Whitewall tires are designed specifically for Ford Model A and other early 1930's American automobiles. The bias ply tires are sized at 475/500-19, and feature a 2 5/8-inch wide whitewall. These tires are expertly hand-crafted in refurbished original molds right here in the USA and feature authentic tread designs and sidewall markings. These tires feature beautiful genuine whitewall construction and are great tires for Model A Fords and similar era automobiles. Firestone Bias Ply wide whitewall tires are a premium tire choice for fine antique automobiles.

Genuine Wide Whitewall Tire

This product features a genuine wide whitewall sidewall style. This means that the bright white rubber is added directly to the tire sidewall during initial construction of the carcass, resulting in a truly integrated, high-quality product after vulcanization. Wide whitewall tires were a very popular choice from the 1930's through the end of the 1950's, and were eventually phased out of mainstream production by 1962. Originally, wide whitewall tires featured a bias ply construction, but now Coker Tire offers them in original style bias ply and modern radial construction.

Bias Ply Construction

Bias ply tire construction is a method that was used from the 1900's through the 1970's on passenger cars and light trucks. Bias ply tires feature ply cords that run at a 45 degree angle to the bead, and overlap in a crisscross pattern, depending on how many ply layers are used. This creates a strong tire, but bias ply tires have a tendency to follow breaks or ruts in the pavement. Bias ply tires are the most authentic choice for classic car restorations and traditional hot rod builds. Coker Tire offers a huge variety of bias ply tires for many applications.

Please Note

  • Tire mounted on wheel for demonstration purposes only. Wheel and other accessories are not included. Please note that dimensions listed (tread width, section width and overall diameter) are non-scientific and based on an inflated tire, mounted to a wheel. Dimensions may vary due to rim width and inflation pressure. Please note Chemical Guys Tire and Rubber Cleaner and Adams Polish Tire shine has been linked to Whitewall browning and should not be used. We recommend using our line of tire care products.

Do you need liners on the Model A tubes?
By Phil Lyon on March 05, 2019

That only depends on the type of wheel it will be mounted on. If a spoked wire wheel, then a rim strip is recommended. If it is a split rim, then a flap is recommended. If a solid, or "disc" type wheel, a tube liner is generally not required.
