It's always a high priority for Coker Tire, Honest Charley and any automotive aftermarket company to promote the collector car hobby and encourage enthusiasts to actually get their cars out and drive them! First and foremost, driving your car wears out tires, so that's job security for our team here in Chattanooga, Tennessee, but it's also a key element in keeping the hobby alive for future generations. If these timeless classic cars stay stored inside a garage for months and years at a time, it'll be hard to influence today's youth with good old fashioned American iron. That's why Collector Car Appreciation Day was born.

Driving an old car is something that cannot compare to anything built in the last 40 years. The modern advancements of fuel injection, electronic ignition systems, radial tires, four-wheel disc brakes, overdrive transmissions and more offer great convenience for everyday driving. But at the same time, those modern features take the fun and adventure out of driving. When you drive an old car a great distance, it's always a good idea to make a checklist beforehand, so the car can be thoroughly checked. And while this checklist won't prevent an occasional breakdown, it will certainly help you be more prepared for a road trip in an old car.
1. FluidsIt's always a good idea to check the fluids in your car, even on short trips. Check the oil, coolant, transmission (if automatic), power steering (if applicable) and brake fluid. Make it a habit! The last thing you want on a road trip is for your collector vehicle to overheat, or have an oiling issue, so make a

May 13, 2014The National Street Rod Association (NSRA) has been around since 1970 and it legitimized rod runs in the United States. Coker Tire is the "Official Tire of the NSRA" so we're proud to support its events, and encourage folks to attend the regional events, as well as the BIG ONE...the Street Rod Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky. Since our headquarters is in Chattanooga, Tennessee, our regional event is the Street Rod Nationals South, held at Chilhowee Park in Knoxville, Tennessee.

May 12, 2014With car show and cruise in season in full swing, we're on the road every weekend to events across the country. We set up our tractor trailer rigs at many national events throughout the year, but sometimes we go to local events for the fun of it. Sliding behind the wheel of an old car and mingling with like-minded folks is always a relaxing way to spend a sunny Saturday, and we did just that a couple weeks ago at the Main Street Cruise In, just up the road, in Cleveland, Tennessee.

March 10, 2014That's what we loaded up and took to Amelia Island this past weekend! It's one of the most prestigious car events in North America, and we took a truck load of cool stuff to the beautiful Golf Club of Amelia Island at Summer Beach. This event is what we like to call "fancy" and it's right up there with Pebble Beach, in terms of notoriety and cool factor. For 2014, the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance featured the Underslung, a unique design used by American Motor Car Company from 1905 to 1914. Just so happens that Corky and his father, Harold each have an American Underslung in their collection, so those two were no-brainer's...we just had to take 'em. Also on our truck was Richie Clyne's American Underslung roadster, a truly incredible piece and a great-driving car. Amelia Island also had a tribute to the Offenhauser Indy engine, so we displayed our Lencki Six engine, as it was an "offy on steroids".

June 10, 2013We sell tires and wheels all over the world, and we get lots of questions about tire and wheel balancing. Some folks are quick to assume that if the tire/wheel assembly is out of balance that it's a "bad tire" or a "bad wheel", but a lot of factors go into getting the perfect balance. Here, Corky Coker talks about tire and wheel balancing, and how to get it right for your car. Check out the video to learn more about the careful process of mounting and balancing tires and wheels for collector vehicles.

October 08, 2012The passing of a year of the calendar for kids seems to have very important points during the year like the end of school, Christmas, and birthdays. My calendar year seems to have important dates that focus around car events. As a died-in-the-wool car guy, I know it is Fall for sure when the AACA National Fall Meet, better simply known as Hershey rolls around. If you have never been to Hershey, Pennsylvania for this huge collector car extravaganza, you MUST put this event on your list.

April 28, 2012Our big tour week was capped off with a visit from the Smoky Mountain Model A Club, from Knoxville, Tennessee. Their group consisted of 8 nicely restored Model A's, most of which had our Firestone or BFGoodrich bias ply tires beneath them. Coupes, roadsters and sedans made for a nice variety, and we're sure they had a great time on the drive down the road. We're glad they came by, to see what Coker is all about! Here are a few shots of their cars!
